Abstract

Low learning motivation remains a persistent challenge in Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS) at the elementary school level, largely due to conventional, teacher-centered instructional practices. This study aimed to examine the effect of implementing Gimkit, a gamification-based learning medium, on fifth-grade students' learning motivation. A quantitative pre-experimental method with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design was employed. The participants consisted of 30 fifth-grade students from SDN Kereo 3 Larangan selected via purposive sampling. Data were collected using a validated 4-point Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, and the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The results revealed that the mean motivation score increased significantly from 63.77 in the pretest to 68.20 in the posttest, reflecting an improvement of 4.43 points. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test indicated a statistically significant difference (Z = -4.492, p < 0.001), with 86.7% of students showing higher motivation. In conclusion, the implementation of Gimkit significantly enhances elementary students' learning motivation in IPAS. Teachers are encouraged to utilize interactive gamification tools to foster learner-centered environments.
