The Role and Relationship Between Philosophy and Educational Theory for Educational Practice

Abstract

This study explores the interrelationship between philosophy and educational theory in shaping meaningful and sustainable educational practices. The research is motivated by the need to understand how philosophical foundations influence theoretical frameworks and their application in classroom contexts. The main objective is to analyze the extent to which educational philosophy provides normative guidance and value orientation to educational theory, and how theory translates these principles into practical strategies. The method employed is a literature review supported by qualitative analysis of contemporary texts on philosophy and educational theory. The findings reveal that educational philosophy serves as an ideological foundation that directs the development of educational theory, while educational theory acts as a bridge connecting philosophical principles with pedagogical practices. The study concludes that integrating philosophy and educational theory is essential for creating reflective, contextual, and value-based educational practices. Such integration ensures that educational activities are not only technically effective but also aligned with ethical and cultural values, thereby promoting holistic and sustainable learning.
